How it works.
View the image to understand how solar energy produces electricity. This is an example of a home connected to the GRID (your current energy source; PGE, SDE, etc.).
- The Solar array captures the sunlight as Direct Current (DC).
- The Inverter converts the DC current into Alternating Current (AC), to power the home.
- Surplus AC power is recorded on the meter as it goes to the GRID.
- At night or on cloudy days, you receive your electricity from the grid

NOTE: If you weren't on a GRID or want to be off the GRID, you would need a battery to store the power for night time and if the grid is down.
