You will be repeating the steps below every time you check your mail. We suggest checking your mail at least once a day until you can do it on your own without our instructions. (Tip: Before starting any lesson read through all the steps.)
1. Look for Pegasus on your desktop or off of your Start Menu. Click on the icon of the flying horse.

In a few seconds Pegasus' logo will disappear and the box below appears for you to enter your username.

2. Type in the first 8 letters of your username and press enter or click on okay.
3. Click on the word File in the upper left.

4. Click on "Check host for new mail" from the drop down menu selection, as shown below:

Look down in the left corner to see what's happening.
If you have mail you will see:
POP 3: "Connecting..."
POP 3: "Getting message list" then you will see,
POP 3: "Identifying unread messages"
If you have no mail you will see across the bottom line:
F1, username, 0 new
5. Click on the word File in the upper left.
6. Click on "Exit" from the drop down menu selection.
7. That's it! The next lesson covers:
Opening, Printing, Closing (a message) and Exiting Pegasus.
Please tell us when you have completed Lesson One. Starting with Lesson Two we will be sending you email messages to work with as you go through the lessons. If any messages were retrieved when you go went through Lesson One ignore them for now. They will stay there until you take an action to move or delete them. These steps will be covered later.
